Square and Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey confirmed via Twitter today that Square plans to create a Bitcoin hardware wallet.
Jesse Dorogusker, head of product development at Square, first tweeted the company “It has been decided to build a hardware wallet and service to make bitcoin custody more widespread.”
Jesse Dorogusk said:
“We decided to build a hardware wallet and service to make Bitcoin custody more mainstream. We will continue to ask and answer questions publicly. The response from this community to our posts about this project has been great-encouraging, generous, collaborative and encouraging Human heart.”
Dorsey retweeted his tweet and added, “We are doing it.”
Dorsey said last month that Square is considering building a Bitcoin Wallet, he confirmed today.
